About Wareham's Pond
Wareham’s Pond sits quietly at the heart of Kingsmill Resort, steeped in natural history and shaped by the vision of Busch Properties in the early 1970s. Long before that, the area was marked on 17th- and 19th-century maps as Wareham’s Creek, Wareham’s Pond, and the Green Swamp—hints at its storied past as a tidal backwater.
Today, this warmwater freshwater fishery offers a rare mix of privacy, challenge, and opportunity. While not a "numbers" lake, Wareham’s rewards patience and precision with the chance to connect with true trophy-class largemouth bass and slab crappie.
Peak season runs March through early June, when pre-spawn and spawning fish push shallow. Things cool off by Father’s Day but fire back up in October, when fish begin ambushing schools of gizzard shad—prime time for topwater eats and aggressive streamer takes.
Wareham’s receives little pressure and fishes more like a private spring creek than a suburban lake. It’s technical, but that’s where we come in. We’ll cut the learning curve and show you what makes this place special—just ask the pros who fished it during the 2003 BASS Elite Series.
